This training seminar will provide attendees with an overview of the requirements within AS/NZS ISO 9606.1 and ISO 9606-1 to qualify welders to these standards . These welder qualifications permits the welder to weld on steel structures to the AS/NZS 1554 standards and pressure equipment via AS3992. The seminar will provide information on:
a. Application of the standards
b. ISO clarifications on requirements
c. Practical aspects of qualifying welders to the standards
d. Welder qualification test certificates
e. The importance of confirmation of qualifications
f. Relevance to AS/NZS 1554 welder qualifications
g. Comparison with AS/AZS 2980

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Bruce Cannon, Principle Welding Engineer & Technical Publications Manager - Weld Australia
With over 40 years industry experience, Bruce commenced his career at AI&S at Port Kembla, which later became BHP, BHP Steel and now BlueScope. He has in-depth expertise in mechanical testing, metallography, special testing, of steels, weldability testing, electroslag roll reclamation, weldability of quenched and tempered steels, quality management and auditing, delayed hydrogen cracking, special testing of steels, weld repair, stud welding, welding of coated steels and in-service welding of linepipes. He also has extensive experience with Australian Standards, becoming the chair of WD-003 Welding of Steel Structures in 1998. Bruce joined Weld Australia in February 2016 as our Technical Publications Manager with a core focus on Australian Standards, technical notes and the Australian Welder Certification Register (AWCR). Bruce holds a bachelor of Applied Science (Metallurgy) and is an International Welding Engineer (IWE).
Victor Blain, Senior Welding Engineer - Weld Australia
Victor is a solution oriented engineer with over 10 years experience in materials and welding. In 2006, Victor completed a Certificate IV in welding fabrication, and gained experience as a welder and fabrication on carbon steel and stainless steel structures in Canada. In 2010, he graduated as a Metallurgy Technologist which lead him to gain experience in material testing in the energy and aerospace sectors at Hydro-Quebec and Pratt Whitney. Since then, Victor's experience has been focused on Manufacturing, working at Bombardier Transportation. His main achievements are related to project start up, welding coordination and suppliers audit and support. Victor joined Weld Australia in 2018. Victor holds a Certificate IV in Welding and Fabrication, a Bachelor of Metallurgy, a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, and is an international Welding Engineer (IWE). His area of expertise include: rail and rolling stock; manufacturing; infrastructure; and bridges.
