We have immediate opportunities for skilled people to undertake world-leading training in the United States (U.S), setting you up for a secure career back home in the nuclear-powered submarine program - Australia's largest-ever industrial endeavour.
You will have access to cutting edge training in Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) for 12-18 months, with some roles completing placements at other locations throughout the USA during the full course of the assignment.

This opportunity sits within the Defence sector and is a full-time, on-site position based in Garden Island, Henderson, SA.
Key responsibilities
We are seeking candidates to undertake opportunities to deploy to US Navy shipyards (Primarily Pearl Harbour, Hawaii) before the end of 2024. Placements will be between 18-24 months. During this time you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training.
Upon completion of the deployment and assuming you have been certified our fabricators are responsible for the management and completion of sheet metal work packs under the guidance of the Trade and Boat team leaders. This work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
Opportunities are available immediately and individuals wishing to express interest in a position should be available and interested in being repatriated in the near term.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia to carry out the planning, management and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines, this will be non-negotiable so please consider this when applying.
Please note this is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
About you
The successful person must possess:
• Relevant Trade Qualification – Fabrication trade
• 1-5 years (Max. 5 years) experience in a similar role.
• Experience with working in restricted areas.
• Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
• Australian Citizenship
• An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
