About Coregas
As a Wesfarmers business, Coregas is the only Australian-owned gases company. We manufacture gases locally and distribute throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our compressed gases and cryogenic liquids are used for a huge range of applications including construction, healthcare, welding, research, food & beverages and clean energy.
Our Technical Services team are responsible for a range of activities, including gas supply installations on customer sites, maintenance of plant and equipment and operation of our Mackay based Separation facility. We are in the search of a Plant Technician, based in Mackay, to support the above activities.
The role reports to the Regional Manager, FNQ. Where we are looking for
a self-motivated and experienced professional who functions with safety as
paramount and can offer both an excellent level of quality, service and
productivity with our customers and our Coregas environments. This hybrid
position would suit someone with preferably a mechanical and/or gas fitter
trade background, who has experience working within a plant environment and has
sound knowledge of electrical and instrumentation, with the aptitude to learn
new skills and can display a proven ability to take responsibility and deliver
on commitments.
This opportunity sits within the Mining & Resources sector and is a full-time, hybrid position based in Mackay, QLD.
Key responsibilities
What you will be doing
ASU Plant Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Coordinating the safe and efficient start-up and shutdown of production plant
- Coordinate maintenance activity for the facility, to deliver on safety, reliability and budget commitments
- Coordination of safe work practices at the facility
- Afterhours callout as required
Customer Installations Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Prepare quotations for standard installations in accordance to Coregas standards and KPIs.
- Effectively executing installations including procuring materials, coordinating contractors (where applicable), installation, commissioning and testing, handover training, documentation and budget control
- Completing both planned and breakdown maintenance at customer installations and Coregas sites as required
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are recorded in the Coregas Maintenance System (MEX)
- Supporting training of current and new technical staff and/or contractors
- Compliance with Coregas quality, safety and environment systems and safe working rules on Customer sites
- Remaining proactive and vigilant in the identification of workplace safety and health hazards
- Afterhours callout as required
About you
What we need from you
- A mechanical and/or gas fitter trade with at least 5 years of industry experience
- Familiarity with operational equipment such as vacuum pumps, cryogenic pumps, gas compressors, piping systems, MIG/TIG Welding preferred.
- Able to work flexible hours and On-Call when required
- Basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge would be an advantage
- Willingness to travel to Customer sites and branches throughout North QLD
- Basic design skills and the ability to draw workshop drawings
- Experience in creating quotations for customers
- Maintenance and project installation experience
- Committed to working safely, being accountable, acting ethically, and treating everyone with respect
- Ability to work through project issues with customers in a timely manner
- Technically competent and proficient with
various software programs: Excel,
Word, Outlook, MEX, etc. - Strong written and oral communication skills: In-person meetings, E-mail & Phone calls
- Detail oriented and committed to following established processes
- Licence to operate a forklift and an operational Standard 11 licence would be advantageous
- Open to feedback and interested in learning opportunities
- Ability to work unsupervised with customers/clients and able to handle challenging/stressful situations autonomously
