About the role
AML3D is seeking a Robotic Welding Operator to join our production team in Adelaide. In this hands-on role, you will operate robotic welding cells to deliver high-quality parts and builds, working to WPSs, safety standards and production targets. You will work collaboratively with the welding coordination team and the R&D technical lead to ensure consistently high-quality outcomes and drive ongoing improvements in both processes and products.
This opportunity sits within the General Fabrication sector and is a full-time, on-site position based in Adelaide, SA.
Key responsibilities
2.1 What you’ll do -
• Operate & monitor robotic GMAW welding cells (start-up, run, shutdown)
• Set up tooling/fixtures, prepare consumables, and load/verify programs
• Execute WPSs: adjust parameters, torch angles, travel speed, wire/gas as required
• Inspect & document: perform VT during runs, record lot numbers, heat numbers, parameters, and production data in line with QA requirements
• Troubleshoot common issues (wire feed, contact tips, porosity, spatter, arc stability) and escalate appropriately
• Maintain equipment: basic preventative maintenance, calibration checks
• Collaborate with team members on procedure builds for new materials
• Champion safety: follow SOPs, permits, and risk controls
About you
2.2 What you’ll bring -
• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication (or equivalent trade/experience)
• Solid GMAW/MIG skills; experience with robotic welding (ABB or similar) is highly regarded
• Ability to read engineering drawings and WPSs, and to follow quality procedures
• Familiarity with basic robot interfaces; offline programming experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail, safety-first mindset, and reliable teamwork
• Strong work ethic
