About the role
Avweld Australasia Pty Ltd is a privately-owned Melbourne manufacturing and maintenance engineering company specialising in wear prevention. Our technologies include laser cladding, robotic weld and thermal spray overlays, composite coatings and large scale machining and grinding. Operating since 1985, Avweld focus on providing materials engineering expertise to provide tailored solutions for wear minimisation and machine longevity.
This opportunity sits within the Mining & Resources sector and is a full-time, on-site position based in Laverton North, VIC.
Key responsibilities
The role will be operating the welding cell on a day-to-day basis performing regular tasks whilst ensuring exceptional weld and finished part quality. You will work closely with a qualified team of welding specialists and the workshop manager to ensure the robot systems’ output meets its full potential.
Tasks including:
- System setup
- Loading and referencing pre-prepared assemblies
- Loading and validating offline-programmed programs
- Online programming changes and refinement
- Assist in creating and refining weld procedures and parameter
- Perform both pre and post welding Quality Checks.
- Carry out ongoing preventative maintenance
- System troubleshooting
- Occasional manual fitting and welding operations where required
- Operation of Laser Welding, PTA and MIG Welding Systems
About you
Training will be provided however following skills and experience is desirable:
- 3rd-4th Year Apprentice in Welding or some experience in Welding, Boiler making or similar.
- Basic knowledge of Weld Standards and Procedures.
- Basic computer skills and writing programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems on the shop floor in conjunction with the operating team.
- Self-Motivated and hands-on with an ability to react quickly to changing requirements.
