About the role
This opportunity sits within the Mining & Resources sector and is a part-time, on-site position based in Roxby Downs, SA.
Key responsibilities
- Directly manage welding/quality with teams to achieve all project requirements within the set standards
- Welding Supervision, inspection, weld procedure qualification, weld procedure reviews / approvals and welder qualification
- Oversees the welding team, instructs the welding personnel, verifies the quality of welds, coordinates jobs & evaluate job performance
- Understands the specifications on BHP OD site and should possess knowledge of welding and NDT practices
- Compiling records for traceability, maintain registers using software programs
- Planning and directing Welding team and coordinating the activities
- Providing ongoing progress updates to the Management
- Reviewing fabrication schedules and plans for adequacy of resources and equipment
- Ensure that the fabrication team is operating at an optimal level with minimal risk
- Ensure that projects are effectively planned prior to project commencement to ensure appropriate plans are in place and deadlines are effectively set
- Responsible for providing input and offering recommendations for the continuous improvement of Mine Tech Engineering Olympic Dam processes, work practices and standard procedures
About you
- AS1796:2001 Welding Supervisors (Cert 10),
- AS2214:2004 Welding Supervisors, Structural Steel Welding( Not essential),
- Knowledge of Australian Pressure and Structural Standards,
- Certificate IV Trade Qualifications or equivalent experience,
- Engineering Trade Certificate or equivalent,
- Experience in a welding supervisor role or would suit newly appointed Cert 10 Welding Supervisor,
- Able to necessary PPE (including RPE) on BHP OD surface and Underground (e.g. any facial hair must fit with Fit Testing Requirements etc)
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer and Microsoft Software
