About the role
We are an Australian and International leader in design & manufacturing materials handling solutions, especially to the mining, defence and infrastructure industries requiring an technically skilled, motivated and experienced Workshop Supervisor to join our Team.
As a key member of our busy production team manufacturing our range of materials handling solutions you will be a highly capable, dynamic and experienced Workshop Supervisor looking to advance your career through the opportunities this role and the business presents.
To be successful you will have prior experience in a key workshop role with demonstrated success in a hands-on role, responsible for leading the operational success of your team through efficient completion of production activities.
Our ideal candidate will be highly skilled at welding to recognised standards (AS 1554) and have familiarity with welding quality management systems (ISO 3834). The candidate shall have high quality fabrication experience in a workshop environment with IWS or IWI Qualifications highly desirable.
The position is Monday to Friday, 6.30am – 3.00pm, plus reasonable overtime.
This opportunity sits within the Mining & Resources sector and is a full-time, on-site position based in Larapinta, QLD.
Key responsibilities
- Co-coordination of workshop staff and workshop planning
- Overseeing all operational workshop tasks and planning daily workshop operations
- Coordinate quality standards and effective sequencing of activities to ensure projects are dispatched on time
- Collaborate with the purchasing, sales and planning teams to improve productivity and make necessary amendments to the Customer Delivery Schedule
- Work closely with QA Manager in all aspects quality including ISO accreditation and maintenance schedules
- Utilise experience and knowledge to support the business successfully achieving production and operational objectives
- Analyse work orders and drawings to determine sequences of operations required in conjunction with trades
- Provide hands-on support for your team, including filling in for absent positions when required.
- Manage resources, especially labour, efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain up to date records for all workshop and QA programs
- Identify and resolve any restrictions or bottlenecks in completing production requirements on time in full
- Demonstrate constructive leadership, building a team of accountable people who can deliver applicable business goals
- Establish and maintain productivity standards.
- Cultivate a continuous improvement culture within the workshop team in relation to Lean Manufacturing principles
- Implement continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles
- Undertake a lead role to ensure plant safety through education of employees, vigilance and the creation & day to day direction safety programs in conjunction with HSE Manager
- Confident ability to use various computer programs in addition to MS Office software including Word and Excel
About you
- Certificate 3 in Boilermaking / Welding (required)
- Current Forklift License (required)
- IWS or IWI Qualification (desirable)
- Certificate 2 in Magnetic Particle Testing (desirable)
- Diploma or certificate in frontline leaders (desirable)
- Rigging or dogging qualifications and/or experience (desirable)
